Over the past few weeks, Oilers management has been combing through the league trying to find a replacement for Jack Campbell as his numbers continued to bottom out and be dismal at best.
General manager Ken Holland was left with no choice but to send him down to the Bakersfield Condors to get his mind back on track.
Since then, Stuart Skinner has answered the call to action and over his last five starts he has produced some excellent numbers.
Having gone 5-0-0 with a 1.58 goals against average and a .943 save percentage, these numbers along with an improved power play and penalty kill has allowed the Oilers to right the ship and get their season back on track.
This was evident when the Oilers played the Carolina Hurricanes. His 39 save performance and the team winning 6-1 was a great start after several days break.
Though it's widely expected for Holland to continue to shop for a goaltender, these numbers allow him to take a breath and the team to focus on what's needed to be done.
