NHL insider reveals how Tyson Barrie found out about being traded

With the power of social media with the rise of podcasting, fans get to hear a much more detailed account of how NHL players find out they have been traded.

Frank Seravalli of thedailyfaceoff.com was on the OilersNation Everyday Podcast and shared his story about when former Oilers defenseman Tyson Barrie learned that he was traded to the Nashville Predators.

Barrie, along with Reid Schaefer, a 1st rounder in 2023, and a 4th in 2024, went to the Predators in exchange for Mattias Ekholm and a 2023 sixth-round pick. Ekholm was instrumental in helping the Oilers cement their playoff spot last season and prolonged their playoffs until the second round against the Vegas Golden Knights.

This season, Ekholm had a tough start when he sustained an injury during the preseason has played 21 games, scored three goals, with six assists for 9 points, and is a -1. In Nashville, through 22 games, Barrie has scored no goals, with 9 assists for 9 points, and is a -5.
