Over the coming weeks, the Oilers will be entering the heart of their schedule which includes several back-to-back games which means their goaltending will need to be strong.
It's been well documented that general manager Ken Holland has been scouring the NHL for goaltender help. Many Oilers scouts have been seen across the league kicking over tires and watching for a potential buyer.
Stuart Skinner has rapidly improved over the last two weeks and is now the uncontested #1 but has shown signs of buckling under the pressure to perform and playing multiple games together. Calvin Pickard is not the answer long term and barely played 10 games a season with other clubs. Jack Campbell is a train wreck in the AHL and isn't a solution for them whatsoever.
It's safe to say that Holland will need to make a move as soon as possible as the Oilers season hangs in the balance. There's a strong possibility he may need to move a player or two that he may not want to but it may be needed to solidify their position.
