Over the past couple weeks, there has been much speculation over who the Oilers are looking to acquire at the deadline. Consensus was that they only had enough to go out for one big forwards, but it sounds like now the Oilers have moved on from that acquisition. Elliotte Friedman made an appearance on the Jeff Marek show to throw some more speculation on moves the Oilers could be looking to make.

Friedman said the team is still pursuing an add on defence. This is great news for Oilers fans, as defence seems to be the perennial position of need. In particular, the Oilers are really looking for a top 4 RHD and a bottom pairing LHD, so either of those slots being filled would be fantastic.

That's makes it very good to hear Friedman bring up Walker's name, as he is someone who can slot nicely into that second line right- handed defense position. Walker currently holds a $2.65M cap hit, making him a very affordable option for the Oilers. He also has 26 points in 49 games, and would slot in to the second powerplay if it were to slip in production at all.

Whether it's Walker or a different defenseman that the Oilers can afford, any kind of addition on the d-line would be much welcomed. They could also ship out guys like Kulak or Broberg, and could put together a decent package for anyone looking to sell.
