When the Edmonton Oilers started this year to a record of 2-9-1, causing the team to send down starting goaltender Jack Campbell to the minors and fire coach Jay a Woodcroft, things were looking like they'd never turn around this year for the team. At the lowest point of the season, on November 22nd down by 4 goals to Carolina, fans seem to have pinpointed the moment the Oilers season turned around.
Just after Knoblauch had taken over, the two Oilers stars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were spotted on the bench sternly giving each other a light tap, seemingly a sign of solidarity and belief in each other as teammates. After the game, the two organized and held a players only meeting.
Since then, although McDavid and Draisaitl still haven't gone off to their nuclear offensive stats of the past, they've been integral in turning around the entire team's play. From that moment on, the Oilers have a record of 24-3-0, and are undoubtedly the Stanley Cup Favourites this year.
