Speculation throughout the NHL always runs rampant in the offseason when teams begin to look at their rosters and feel what would be ingredient that's missing that could make them into a Stanley Cup contender.

Some teams feel it could be a goaltender that would give them that key saves at times to help preserve wins in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Others feel it might be a new defensive system or a new coach that could be plugging the team with poor systems that stagnate the growth of offence and development.

The question came about during a roundtable discussion on dailyfaceoff.com regarding what the key ingredient is missing for the Edmonton Oilers to put them in the Stanley Cup finals and win It.

There were numerous answers, but I feel that one of the key ingredients would be a new game-saving goaltender. The Oilers, unfortunately, have two goaltenders that did not come through in this playoff series against the Golden Knights.

If the Oilers would have a number one starter that did not have any question marks or had a pedigree of winning, the outcome might have been very different.

The Oilers had plenty of offence to score during this playoff series and they did have a direct path to the Stanley Cup since so many great teams fell in the first round.

I feel that the Oilers should make a point to look for a new starting goaltender and find a way to move Jack Campbell's contract out of the organization and keep Stuart Skinner as the backup.

Unrestricted free agency day begins in early July.
