Mikhail Ovechkin, the father of Alexander Ovechkin, passed away at the age of 71, the Washington Capitals revealed just one week ago. Ovechkin temporarily left the Washington Capitals in response to the heartbreaking news so that he could stay at home during these trying times.

Ovechkin took a morning skate with his teammates after joining back with the Washington Capitals after a mourning week . Ovechkin was questioned about his difficulties over the previous week when he spoke with the Washington Capitals reporters after practice. The scenario has been "the toughest i've been throughout my NHL career," according to Ovechkin.

In addition, Ovechkin disclosed that his mother and brother will be visiting the US from Russia to cheer him on next month in March. Ovechkin elaborated on the recent saddened news and made the following comments:

''A tearful Alex Ovechkin on his father's impact'':

"He gave me everything. All his health, all his time. He traveled with me all over the world and been at every practice when he had a chance. People who know him they're going to miss his smile, they're going to miss his energy.

It was a cool moment, the best moment of my life with him other than kids and family-wise. But I think the job what he did, and the time and health, it kind of was his Cup as well.»

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Alexander, his mother Tatyana and other friends/family affected.
