Monday Night Hockey officially moving to major streaming platform

After rumours earlier this month, Monday Night Hockey broadcasts on Sportsnet have officially come to an end following a big announcement from the National Hockey League on Thursday.

In a post on social media, the National Hockey League announced that Amazon Prime Video has bought the broadcasting rights for Monday Night Hockey for the remaining two years of Rogers' deal.


Monday Night Hockey debuted on Sportsnet in the fall of 2022 after Rogers decided to cancel Hometown Hockey with Ron MacLean and Tara Slone after eight year on the air. The goal with Monday Night Hockey on Sportsnet was to feature at least one Canadian team or on occasion, have an all-Canadian matchup, and to have an early-week telecast to replace Hometown Hockey.


The Vancouver Canucks have been featured on Monday Night Hockey on a handful of occasions throughout the 2022-23 and 2023-24 season and there's no doubt they'll be shown on Amazon Prime Video over the next two years.
