Oilers forward Zach Hyman held his 6th annual Charity Golf Tournament in Toronto today, and spoke to the media to wrap up his injury and another Cup Final loss.

After an awkward hit from Mason Marchment in the Dallas Stars series, Hyman required surgery which knocked him out for the rest of the reason. At this point, he's just hopeful to return for opening night.

Zach Hyman addresses injury status for next season, Cup Final loss at charity golf event

Speaking to media at his charity golf event today, Hyman said he's hopeful to return for Game 1 of the regular season, but isn't willing to put a timeline on it yet.
I haven't set a date or anything like that. Once you set a date, you get disappointed if you don't play on the date. I hope to play on opening night.

- Zach Hyman

The Oilers forward suffered a dislocated wrist and multiple torn ligaments after the collision with Marchment, which will require a long healing process and rehab before he's back in game shape.
He may get a slower start in training camp, and it's possible he misses a game or two - but he'll be back at the beginning of the year.
Additionally, Hyman spoke about how gutting it was to him to sit and watch the Cup Final, unable to play. Stressing out on the couch at home Hyman said he felt more like a manager than a player, and also that the team would come back better next year.
It was hard in the Final not being able to help, you feel helpless. It's not common to be watching especially in games like that where you want to be involved.

I got a feel for it as a manager almost from the top which was not fun. Watching those games was super stressful. I think this year was a little different. We will go into this coming year with a little bit more motivation.

- Zach Hyman
In such a close series between the Oilers and Panthers, having Hyman in the lineup may have been a factor to sway the result. It was a heartbreaking loss for the Oilers, but that's just hockey.
Already laser focused on a return next season and to play a more improved game throughout the year, the Oilers are saying the right things to reach another Cup Final next year.
