The Edmonton Oilers have a fantastic 4-1 win with a full team effort, but lost an irreplaceable player in Zach Hyman to injury after a brutal hit.

In the neutral zone, Stars forward Mason Marchment took a run at Zach Hyman nowhere close to the puck.

Oilers insider Ryan Rishaug has bad news on Zach Hyman injury

After the game, TSN insider Ryan Rishaug reported that Hyman was outside the Oilers locker room hanging out with the team post-game, but his condition didn't look good. Leon Draisaitl appeared sympathetic to Hyman.

Oilers coach Knoblauch refused to answer Hyman's status today, saying he'll have more information tomorrow.
The first sign that this could be a serious injury was the fact that Hyman was unable to return to play. Having a reputation for one of the hardest working players in the league, only a severe injury could hold him out this deep into the playoffs.
It was an incredibly awkward hit, and Hyman appeared to be immediately in pain. The way he dropped his stick and rushed down the tunnel, with his right arm dangling, was an ugly sight to see.
Mason Marchment should absolutely be facing supplemental discipline, but we'll have to wait and see from NHL Player Safety.

Zach Hyman injury doesn't look like positive news for Oilers

According to Online Sports Doctor Harjas Grewal, a shoulder dislocation could be the primary concern for Hyman. Surprisingly though, this could only keep him out day-to-day, and he could play with a sling.
Hyman is a key player for the Oilers, for their offence, defence, forecheck, physicality, leadership - just about everything. Losing him out of the top six would be irreplaceable at this time of year.
The Oilers don't seem positive on his condition at the moment, but hopefully, Hyman can get the best possible scenario for his recovery timeline and get back into the lineup as soon as possible.
