The Edmonton Oilers are reportedly signing depth defenceman Riley Stillman and goaltender Matt Tomkins, according to NHL insiders.

They're the first additions the Oilers have made today, after offloading Evander Kane and Viktor Arvidsson through trade. They clearly won't be their last additions until opening night.

Edmonton Oilers make first free agent signing, defenceman Riley Stillman

Stillman is a 27 year old left shot defenceman who was signed to a league minimum contract at $775K last season. He spent most of the season in the AHL, but was also called up to play 5 games with the Carolina Hurricanes.
Realistically, Stillman should only be viewed as organizational depth, and a defenceman for the AHL's Bakersfield Condors.
The 6'2 defenceman has actually got into 163 career NHL games with the Florida Panthers, Chicago Blackhawks, Vancouver Canucks, Bufflao Sabres, and the Hurricanes. It's solid experience to have in the AHL, but hopefully he doesn't play for the Oilers.
Stillman's deal with Edmonton is a reasonable 2 year, 2-way contract according to PuckPedia.

Oilers add Edmonton born third goaltender Matt Tomkins

Also according to insider reports, the Edmonton Oilers have also added goalie Matt Tomkins - expected to serve as the organization's 3rd goaltender.
The 31 year old goaltender has only played 6 career NHL games with the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2023-24 season, and posted a .892 save percentage. He will likely take over the AHL's starter role for now.
Needless to say, Oilers fans are a little underwhelmed by these signings.
The Oilers better have a lot more moves coming after these depth signings. Looking to get better to push over the jump for a Cup win, so far, the Oilers have just lost their veteran depth.
