The Edmonton Oilers are facing a horrible situation with injuries to both Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, and now NHL insiders have revealed that both are visiting doctors for additional information.
Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl visiting medical teams for imaging
According to a new report from NHL insider Frank Seravalli, the Oilers are sending McDavid and Draisaitl for medical imaging to get a clear answer on their condition.
This means that the Oilers are concerned and looking for any structural damage with McDavid and Draisaitl, which could be the worst case scenario for either injury.
According to sports doctor Harjas Grewal, Connor McDavid is most at risk for a groin strain. The good news is that the injury is most likely to be a day to day issue, but it could possibly be a much longer timeline.
Leon Draisaitl's injury also appeared to be relatively minor, coming from an awkward fall against the Utah Hockey Club. Draisaitl was able to remain in the game to Chase an 18 game point streak, but unfortunately didn't reach the milestone - and may have aggravated the problem.
While Edmonton and all Oilers fans will be holding their breath awaiting another update on their injuries, the good news is that getting these medical images done now will give the team return timelines today.
Given that both of these injuries do seem to be minor, both players could push through the pain to play in the playoffs. Oilers fans always remember Draisaitl dominating in the playoffs with one severely injured ankle.
Hopefully the Oilers and NHL insiders release another update today following the medical imaging, and can confirm their plans moving forward for the two superstars.
