After scoring 45 goals in his last 142 games, it was extremely strange to see Sprong sign for such a low salary, but this report of being a potential locker room issue would explain why it took a team so long to commit to him. Hopefully Sprong can prove these rumours to be incorrect and have a great year with the Canucks this season, and is able to turn that into a more secure contract next season.
Sprong should be a solid fit for the Canucks, who needed to add an offensive winger of some sort this offseason. His offensive production in the past should get himself an opportunity in the Canucks top-six, where he could potentially reach new career offensive highs. Playing with an elite center on a playoff team, he could aim for 30 goals this season.
