Edmonton Journal and Oilers reporter Jim Matheson has stated that former Oilers defenseman Tyson Barrie has not received an offer from any team in the NHL.
He had just completed a three-year contract that was worth $13.5 million and how the cap had a $4.5 million. He played three seasons with the Oilers after coming over from the Toronto Maple Leafs and during his time with the team he had given the Oilers solid point production as his best was 48 points in 56 games.
He then was moved to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Mattias Ekholm in 2023 and has seen injury trouble along with a major drop in his point production. It's likely this drop will see a decline in his salary as teams have now spent the bulk of their money and are looking for bargains and deals across the NHL.
There are several teams trying to get to the cap floor and could acquire his services with a discounted contract. Teams like the San Jose sharks, Utah HC, Chicago Blackhawks and the Columbus Blue Jackets could be potential landing spots for Barrie.
Only time will tell if he can land himself a deal but in the meantime he will have to wait and be patient to see if his agent will receive a call.
