Marc Andre Fleury's agent makes shocking statement on goalie's future
Lebrun posted on X that Fleury had flashed his glove and has looked good while being at the tournament and may change his mind though he states that he was kidding.
Fluery had made his intentions clear but could change his mind
It was widely expected that Fleury played his final year in the NHL which was clearly apparent as many times throughout the season he had standing ovations and shook every player's hand after the games were over.
But what if he found that his love for the game and to play at a professional level was not over and decided to go for one more year even though he has called it a career?
Fleury has not officially filed his paperwork to retire from the league and is currently in unrestricted free agent when the season comes to an end.
Even if there is a hint of him returning for one more year, teams like
the Edmonton Oilers will absolutely look at Fleury as a potential player to come to the organization.
With the Oilers in a win now mode, an in desperate need of a goaltending upgrade Fleury could be an inexpensive option especially if given the chance to win one more Stanley Cup.
World Championships could give him time to think
It will all depend on how well he plays in the World Championships to determine whether he is truly done with the NHL or wanting to do one more lap.
This season he played 22 games, with a record of 14-9-1 While holding a goals against of 2.93 and a save percentage of .899 with one shutout.
It's quite likely that he is done and he will not return to the NHL as a player next year but with performances like he did against Latvia and showing that he still has what it takes to be an elite goaltender, there will always be a small chance that he will change his mind and potentially return for one more year until he signs his retirement paperwork.
