General Manager Ken Holland decided against making major changes, opting to give this team a second chance with the bulk of the roster remaining intact. He chose to bolster the team's depth and top six by adding one or two players. One highly anticipated addition was former Erie Otter and McDavid teammate, Connor Brown.
Brown, a former draft pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs, has had stints with the Leafs, Senators, Washington Capitals, and now the Oilers. After being on long-term injury reserve since November 2nd, 2022, it appears he will make his return in a preseason game tomorrow.
It will be fascinating to see if he can recapture the magic he shared with McDavid during their time in Erie. If so, he may become the top-six player that Ken Holland envisions. Only time will tell if this will be the case.
The Oilers' next preseason game is scheduled against the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday, September 27th, with the game starting at 9:00 PM.
