Penguins reporter reveals concern about lingering injury to Oilers' Tristan Jarry
A former Pittsburgh Penguins beat reporter has revealed some concerns that Tristan Jarry's injury may be a lingering issue through the rest of his career.
Jarry suffered an injury in his third start with the Oilers, and had to depart the team's road trip for medical testing. The team hasn't provided any return timeline for Jarry yet, but have placed him on the injured reserve.
Penguins analyst reveals Jarry has injury he'll need to «manage» through his career
In the 2022-23 season, Jarry missed some time with an undisclosed lower body injury. His stats began to decline in the following two seasons, crashing from a .909 save percentage to an .893.
Former Penguins beat writer Danny Shirey has revealed a team executive revealed Jarry would have to manage the injury through the rest of his career.
Early this season with the Penguins, Jarry's stats have rebounded nicely to a .909 save percentage in 14 games. The lingering injury might be a concern, but he's proven that he can have success even if it's present.
There's been a narrative overall that Jarry is injury-prone, but that simply isn't true. He's only missed 40 games with injury over the course of his career over 9 seasons.
Nevertheless, a lingering injury sustained just a few years ago would still be a concern for the Oilers. Hopefully the team did their due diligence researching any possible effects and how they may affect performance - which should have been a lesson learned from Trent Frederic.
Hopefully Jarry gets a positive prognosis, and can get back into the Oilers net soon.
