Oilers stars spend Christmas Eve together, share heartwarming picture on social media
The Edmonton Oilers are heading into the holiday break after a dominant win against the Flames, and now the players don't want to get off the ice on Christmas Eve.
The Oilers find themselves now tied for first in the Pacific Division after their slow start this season. The stars are feeling good, and staying home in Edmonton for the holidays.
McDavid, Draisaitl, Ekholm play Christmas Eve pond hockey
Celeste Draisaitl shared a picture today of Leon, Connor, Mattias Ekholm and their wives all on the outdoor rink playing hockey. Even after a game day, of course the Oilers want to spend the holiday like this.
It's heartwarming to see how close this group of players are, so much that they'd spend Christmas Eve together playing more hockey.
With the players' families coming along toon they're clearly felt welcomed and involved in Edmonton. Building this level of off-ice chemistry is critical for team success, and builds a reputation attract new players. It's great to see these three choose Edmonton and thrive here.
McDavid and Draisaitl at least are definitely feeling good about their game at the moment. They're posting offensive numbers that rival entire teams on their own. In their last 12 games, they've combined for 55 points.
Hopefully the Oilers come out of the Christmas break still with this momentum, and can continue climbing the standings to take first place in the Pacific Division. In recent weeks, they've once again looked like a team that could win the Stanley Cup.
We here at OilersDaily wish all readers and fans a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Thank you!
