The Edmonton Oilers took the ice for practice today appearing ready to make major changes to their lineup tonight for a critical Game 4 on home ice.
The Oilers dropped a heartbreaking loss in Game 3 giving up the game winner with 0.4 seconds left.
Stuart Skinner will continue to get the starts in net as Pickard has been ruled out for the series.
At Oilers practice this morning, the team used frequently scrambled lines during rushes. It's not clear what the exact combination may be, but there will be some major changes.
According to TSN insider Ryan Rishaug, both
Kasperi Kapanen and
Troy Stecher seem likely to come into the lineup, with Viktor Arvidsson and Ty Emberson coming out.
After practice, Coach Knoblauch did confirm that some personnel changes will be expected tonight. Ty Emberson had been benched several times, but it's quite shocking to see Arvidsson come out.
Arvidsson hasn't been as productive as the Oilers would've hoped, but in a fourth line role is much more defensively responsible than Kapanen. The younger Finnish forward may have more speed, but often times can't do anything with it and finds himself out of position.
Of course, there's absolutely no shot that
Jeff Skinner will get into another playoff game. They threw him a bone in Game 1, but seeing he's behind Kapanen in the depth chart is tough.
Hopefully on defence, the Oilers find a way to better shelter
Darnell Nurse on a new pair.
With these line changes, Knoblauch is looking to press the right buttons to get a much better effort out of his team than what they saw in Game 3.
