Oilers playoff watch party makes incredible announcement for Game 5
The Edmonton Oilers' playoff watch party outside Rogers Place has been the best in all of major North American sports, and now they're looking to set new records of attendance.
Ice District in Edmonton looks to hit full capacity of 35,000 in attendance for Game 5
Ice District announced today that with their new upgrades and expanded facilities for the Cup Final, they'll be looking for an incredible 35,000 people in attendance for tonight's game inside and out of the arena.
Rogers Place has a capacity of 18,500 inside the arena itself which creates one of the best environments for a game in all of the NHL.
It's absurd to think there's nearly an entire other Rogers Place watching outside, another 16,500 fans at the playoff watch party.
The City of Edmonton announced the final number of attendance was 34,800 in Ice District.
The Oilers have truly created hockey heaven with the creation of Ice District, and the passionate fans in Edmonton have made the best out of it. Rogers Place and Ice District are second to none for any professional sports team in the world, and as great as it is for fans, it's also one of the reasons drawing players to Edmonton.
One of the drawbacks of having so many drunken fans gathered can be the fights occurring in the Moss Pit.
Zach Hyman recently noted that he and the players are aware of it, but instead choose to focus on how great the experience is for all hockey fans.
Hopefully the Oilers get the full 35,000 out in attendance as the entire city of Edmonton is ready to pop with excitement. If they can get a win tonight, they'll be closer to a Stanley Cup than ever before in the McDavid era.
