Oilers insider has update on immediate future of Connor Clattenburg

With his strong play over the last three games with the Oilers, Connor Clattenburg has made his case to remain with the club.
Connor Clattenburg had another six hits on Saturday plus had his first NHL major, a lop-sided scrap with Seattle's Frederick Gaudreau. This on the heels of his first NHL goal the previous outing. It is easy to argue that the twenty-year-old still needs AHL seasoning. But when he makes an impact like this it would not be an easy call. However, lets see if Clattenburg can keep it going over a longer stretch.

Oilers' rookie plays the right way
The term 'the right way' is used quite a bit by analysts and commentators. But what does it mean, really?
Well, when you watch Connor Clattenburg play, you get a general idea. He plays with intensity on every shift; throws big hits; stirs the pot in front of the opposition's net; and does what many won't - fights for his players.
Granted, not all are fans of that style of hockey. But it's not necessarily his specific role on the team that defines him, but the work-ethic and heart he displays that does.
He singlehandedly brought life into Rogers Place on Nov. 25 against the Dallas Stars, when there was very little about which to cheer.
The 20-year old Clattenburg was drafted 160th overall by Edmonton in 2024, and has found his way playing with some of the best in the business, despite his offensive limitations.
And even still, since he arrived 3 games ago from the AHL, he ranks 1st on the team in xGF%, 78.74%; SCF%, 85.71%; HDCF%, 100% and CF%, 61.11%.
The sample size is small, but his ability to standout is not. Chances are, we'll be seeing a lot more of Clattenburg.
