On a recent broadcast of The Jason Gregor Show, the Oilers' Insider spoke to recent reports suggesting Stuart Skinner had requested to leave Edmonton.

Ex-Oiler goalie taking trade in stride

He finds a lot of positives out of the trade. He looks forward to his time here, and he's moving on with his life, like he should.

But no, I do not get the impression that he was pining to leave Edmonton.

When the trade was made last Friday that saw Stuart Skinner leave for Pittsburgh, reports surfaced suggesting he was happy to be leaving, and had in fact requested a trade.
The again, other reports suggested he was not and wanted to remain in Edmonton.
As Jason Gregor reports, the truth is somewhere in the middle.
Following six-plus years with the Oilers, during which Skinner back-stopped the team to consecutive Stanley Cup Finals, and many other achievements to boot, he was admittedly sad to be leaving teammates and friends.
At the same time, Stuart understands the position in which he'd found himself, the center of controversy and criticism, in a hockey market that wants a Cup now.
Whether or not Skinner could have delivered is not even the point now, as he moves on to help the Pittsburgh Penguins achieve their goals.
As a professional, now wearing the black and gold, in a new city with new teammates, Skinner will do his best to acclimate and win games for the Pens.
Yet, he will no doubt miss the time he'd spent in this special city and fanbase, and all the good memories.
