According to a recent Oilersnation article, GM Stan Bowman seems intent on filling other roster needs ahead of goaltending.

That he's been firm on running with Skinner and Pickard as Edmonton's goalies this year is not a surprise; but that the GM still doesn't see goaltending as the number one priority, certainly is.

Analysts confirm Oilers' trade priorities

While on Daily Faceoff Live on Thursday, David Pagnotta discussed whether or not Penguins' goalie Tristan Jarry is a good fit for Edmonton, but also revealed Stan Bowman's thought process concerning his roster-needs.
I know there's so much talk with the Oilers and their goaltending, but they have different holes in this roster that they need to fill. That's what GM Stan Bowman and co. are trying to do right now.

Though the analyst was not specific about what those needs are, scoring and defensive depth are two problematic areas for Edmonton.
It was expected that the Oilers' roster would turnover on offense in 2025-26. We saw Corey Perry, Connor Brown, Evander Kane, Viktor Arvidsson and Jeff Skinner, leave Edmonton, all of whom contributed to scoring last season.
The replacements, however, have not been producing, with the exception of Jack Roslovic, who's recorded 10G and 18 points in 23-games.
That just won't cut it for a team that relies on out-scoring its opposition and hopes to win a Stanley Cup this year.
Add to this the team's defensive struggles and you
have roster-needs. Of course, it doesn't help when your top-players have been, or are out with injury.
Bowman has his hands full, no question, and with just under $200K in cap space, making a deal become even more complex, as players have to exit to make the necessary room.
