Oilers forward leaves practice with scary injury, 2 more players absent

The Oilers have a number of injuries at the moment, and will need to make some tough roster decisions when the team projects to be healthy near the holiday break. This year though, it feels like the injuries just keep coming.

According to insiders at practice today, Frederic rushed off the ice and was bleeding following a puck to the face. It's a terrible injury, and a scare every time to take a puck up high.

Frederic appeared to be in some serious discomfort while exiting the ice, covering the left side of his face with a towel.

Hopefully it's just a cut that requires stitches, but there could be other issues that could take him out of the lineup with injury - like Connor Clattenburg's high-stick injury. After practice, Coach Knoblauch had no update on Frederic.

Janmark has been in and out of the lineup this year due to injury, and seems to be managing the issue with extra rest. Noah Philp has skated in previous practices this week and was projected to be taken off LTIR soon, so him sitting out now could be a sign of a setback.

With only 11 fully healthy forwards and 6 defenceman at practice, the Oilers are expected to move a veteran player to LTIR and call up some more help from the AHL soon. Their most likely option is defender Josh Brown.

Hopefully Frederic gets out of this with the least significant injury prognosis possible, and he can stay in the lineup.
