New Oilers forward Andrew Mangiapane has revealed some life-changing personal news: he's become a Father for the first time.

The Oilers signed Mangiapane to a 2-year contract with a $3.6M annual salary in free agency this summer. They'll be looking for him to play an important veteran two-way role on the team, and he's just had a great welcome to Edmonton.

Andrew Mangiapane becomes first time father after arrival in Edmonton

Mangiapane and his wife Claudia announced today the arrival of their son AJ, born on August 7th, 2025 - just days after the couple's arrival in Edmonton.
One week of loving you AJ. Arriving August 7 at 7 lbs 0 oz, just 72 hours after getting back to Alberta. The best surprise!

It's incredible to see Mangiapane's return to the province of Alberta off to an amazing start with the arrival of his first son.
The Edmonton Oilers also extended a congratulations to the couple.
Mangiapane's had a few down years after suffering a significant shoulder injury that required surgery and a long rehab. After leaving the Calgary Flames for the Washington Capitals, Mangiapane hit a new low by finding himself falling down the lineup to the 4th line. In 81 games, he only scored 28 points - his lowest scoring year since his rookie season.
However, the Oilers have him on a low-risk contract for only $3.6M, and are betting he can bounce back to at least near a 40 point player. If Mangiapane plays well and gets top 6 minutes, he could vastly outperform his deal.
Mangiapane's time with the Oilers is off to a great start personally with the arrival of his son, and now hopefully, it goes well on the ice.
