The March 7th trade deadline is well underway, the NHL has already seen it's fair share of blockbuster transactions. That said, the Edmonton Oilers are still looking for the right opportunity after missing a chance to shake hands with the Detroit Red Wings.
The Edmonton Oilers are coming off a clutch overtime victory over the Montreal Canadiens last night, but goaltending remains an area of concern for the team.
Despite getting the much needed two points, the consensus remains the same: the Edmonton Oilers still need an upgrade between the pipes.
Edmonton Oilers missed an opportunity with the Detroit Red Wings
The Detroit Red Wings are fighting for their playoff lives in the Eastern Conference, and GM Steve Yzerman had a list of goaltending assets to move today to boost his team.

Intriguingly, the Edmonton Oilers had an opportunity to bring back former goaltender Cam Talbot.
While a return to the Oilers could've been a Cinderella story, they've danced with Talbot too many times, and bringing him back just wouldn't have been the right call.
Though Stan Bowman had several solid goalie options, he likely passed, thinking they wouldn't be an upgrade over Stuart Skinner.
This situation echoes the rumours surrounding Anaheim Ducks goalie John Gibson, with the Oilers likely saying "no thanks, due to his hefty price tag not offering enough of an upgrade.
As it stands, the Oilers are standing firm with Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard, although nothing is ever certain on a day like this.
