The Edmonton Oilers faced the worst case scenario last night with injuries to McDavid and Draisaitl, as well as starting goalie Stuart Skinner - but thankfully they won't be out long.
Edmonton Oilers announce official injury timelines for McDavid and Draisaitl
According to updates from Oilers reporters at practice today, Coach Knoblauch has revealed that both McDavid and Draisaitl will miss the next game against the Seattle Kraken.
Coach Knoblauch provided no specific timeline for their return, but clarified that Draisaitl's injury would hold him out for one week maximum. Unfortunately,
Connor McDavid's injury could be a little longer.
The positive news is the Oilers only play three games in the next week, against the Seattle Kraken, Dallas Stars, and the Kraken once more.
Stuart Skinner was pulled from last night's game by the NHL's concussion spotters, and thankfully it seemed to be out of an abundance of caution.
Skinner should be available for tomorrow's game, but
Calvin Pickard is still more likely to start. Again, that will be just a protection measure to not risk another injury to him.
The major concern for the Oilers now will be making sure all their star players are fully healthy entering the playoffs this season.
If they need to hold out their players for rest while chasing a division title and home ice in the playoffs, they'll have a tough decision to make with their lineups down the stretch.
