The Edmonton Oilers took to practice today back on home ice before Game 3, with the same projected lineup aside from Calvin Pickard being absent from practice.
Pickard would've been in line for another start after the Oilers goaltender has gone on a 6-0 run. However, it looks like may have been knocked out with injury.
Calvin Pickard absent from practice, Oilers announce projected lineup
According to reporters at practice, the Oilers will run the same forward and defence pairs as the first two games of the series. With Calvin Pickard absent,
Olivier Rodrigue is backing up
Stuart Skinner.
It's a major surprise to see Calvin Pickard absent given that nothing appeared to happen in Game 3. Oilers insiders believe there could be an injury, or it could be mind games with Vegas.
After practice, Coach Knoblauch did confirm that Pickard has suffered an injury.
Now, it'll be time for Stuart Skinner to get back in the net for the first time since a brutal Game 2 against Los Angeles. Speaking to media today, Skinner himself confirmed first that he will be the starting goalie tonight.
Skinner struggled to be consistent all season especially against top 10 teams, and was pulled from the net after putting up an awful .810 save percentage in 2 games. He looked personally rattled, which is the major cause for concern.
On home ice tonight Skinner could get a better environment, but he needs to put up a much better performance than earlier this playoffs. Otherwise, the Oilers could be in some serious trouble.
