In a recent article of The Athletic, analyst Allan Mitchell outlined a statement-trade the Oilers should make for goaltender Juuse Saros.

the shake-up trade might include one or more of Savoie, the first-round selection and enough cap money moving out to bring in a goaltender who might be an upgrade on Skinner.

The shakeup target would be Saros. To make the money work, the Preds would need to take on Henrique, Skinner and retain money. The additional cost to the Oilers would come in draft picks and young, NHL-ready talent.

The more prudent move would be to replace the struggling backup.

With each day that passes, in which Oilers' GM Stan Bowman doesn't make a deal, sends the message that he's ok with the Oilers' current state of affairs, when it's apparent that fans of the team are not, not by a stretch.
After 17 games, the Nashville Predators are 5-8-4 and one point out of last place in the Central Division. They seem like a team that could be open to the trade Allan Mitchell noted above.
Goaltender Juuse Saros is proven and capable. The question is, will Stan Bowman give up Matt Savoie and a 1st-round pick, in addition to Skinner, Henrique, or whomever for salary going the other way.
Perhaps, then, the more likely move would be Detroit Red Wings' goalie Sebastian Cossa. In his last two full AHL seasons with affiliate Grand Rapids, Cossa posted a .913 and .911 SV%, and a record of 43-24-14, while averaging a 2.43 GAA.
Can Robinson of Elite Prospects said this about Sebastian Cossa:
Detroit have a 6'6, 6'7 former first-rounder in Sebastian Cossa sitting there who's slowly been progressing up They're not soured on him by any means, The fact that they have Augustine there in the Red Wing system allows him to potentially be an expendable chip.»

It's all hands on deck for Edmonton now, and Stan Bowman is probably working his NHL contacts as we speak. I suspect it won't be long before we hear of a shake-up trade.

Should Oilers trade either Savoie or Howard to secure a trade for a number-1 goalie?
