During an NHL Hockey Day broadcast this past Saturday, a panel of analysts discussed Zach Hyman as a possible Team Canada replacement for the injured Brayden Point.
Team Canada replacements on stand by
BIEKSA: We know he compliments McDavid, we know he can score and go to the net. Now with the Point injury, you're thinking about who could come in - a guy who's playing his best hockey, he's hot, he's got chemistry. Why not?
FRIEDMAN: Team Canada is on record saying, they're taking guys to replace guys' roles. Do you see Point as a top six winger or a guy who goes through the lineup? If you see Point as a top-six winger, 100% I think Hyman could take that role.

Though Point is listed as week-to-week, the likelihood of his recovery lasting past February 12 (Canada's 1st game) is strong.
Team Canada is discussing options and with Zach Hyman's recent play of late, he's a strong possibility.
Since his return from injury on December 1st, Hyman has been one the league's top performers, and the 5th most-productive of any Canadian player.
He is fifth in points with 23, in fact, and third in goals with 15. The top four scorers - Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, Macklin Celebrini and Mark Stone - are already part of the Team Canada roster.

The other factor that puts Hyman ahead of other Canadian replacement players is his chemistry with McDavid. Given that, and how he's playing, I believe Zach is the obvious choice.
The other Canadian replacements are Sam Bennett, Mark Schiefele, Steven Stamkos, Wyatt Johnston, Travis Konecny, Connor Bedard and Seth Jarvis.
