NHL insider Chris Johnston originally reported that Trent Frederic wouldn't be available to play the postseason.

Trent Frederic could make his debut before playoffs
According to Oilers gm Stan Bowman, Trent Frederic could be available before the end of the month.
Per Stan Bowman, he expects Trent Frederic to make his Oilers debut before the end of the month. He has Frederic slotted as a top-six winger or the third-line centre.
This is massive news for Oilers fans to say the least.
Getting Trent Frederic in a few games before the postseason will be key to getting him up to game speed and familiar with his new line mates.
Last season, the former Bruins tough guy notched a career highs in games played (82), goals (18), assists (22) and points (40) last season before also tallying three goals and two helpers in 13 playoff games.
