As the Oilers' prepare to play the Boston Bruins tonight, they won't be facing ex-teammate Victor Arvidsson, who happens to be having a pretty good season with the Bruins.
Arvidsson was traded to Boston in the summer, a move intended to make salary-cap space for offseason deals, like the free agent signing of Andrew Mangiapane.
Arvidsson won't play tonight, however, because of a lower body injury he recently suffered; he is listed as day-to-day.
Yet, in the 25 games he has played, Victor has helped the Bruins rise to 2nd-place in the Atlantic Division, only 1-point behind Detroit.
The former-Oiler is averaging 2.18 points per 60 at even strength, second only to another former Oil-man in Taylor hall, who's producing 2.26. points per 60, higher than Zach Hyman's and RNH's.
When you compare Arvidsson's stats to those of Jack Roslovic, he fares quite well. Jack has a 2.29 points per 60.
For Edmonton, Arvidsson was remembered for being a solid, 200-foot winger and played hard on every shift. Yet, he never really reached his scoring potential, making his $4M cap hit a poor value for the Oilers.
In the end, despite his flashes of solid two-way play, he failed to produce enough offense, even playing significant minutes with Leon Draisaitl.
He scored just 1.57 per 60 at even strength playing on Leon's wing.
According to SN, this ultimately led to him being traded to the Boston Bruins, after falling out of favour and becoming a healthy scratch at times, revealing a lack of fit despite initial high hopes.
Over the last ten games, the Oilers are 6-3-1. They will attempt to win their second in a row tonight in Boston.
