Edmonton Oilers Stan Bowman drafted the steal of the 2024 draft

The 18-year-old centre who stands at six feet in 183 lbs was drafted by the Oilers in the seventh round 196 overall. He has shown great promise with his home team the London Knights and this season was one of the best seasons he's done according to his stats line.

According to eliteprospects.com, Nicholl has been pegged as a player who has unrelenting pace along with textbook details and has flashes of high-level offence. It seems that his hockey IQ is quite high and has physical skills that could beat defenders off the wall.

This season, he has played 66 games, scoring 21 goals, with 36 assists for 57 points and has 33 penalty minutes and is a + 38.

Much has been made with the Oilers depth in their junior camps as the Oilers have been pegged as one of the oldest teams in the NHL and will need to get younger sooner rather than later.

Being in the London Knights organization, Nicholl will be on a team that's considered a favorite to win the OHL championship as London had one last season. He will also have a chance to win a memorial cup as the Knights were second place in last years finals.

This pedigree of being on a winning organization is invaluable for a young player and it will bring a winning attitude to nickel which will benefit the Edmonton Oilers and the Bakersfield Condors.

The organization will not be in any hurry to rush the young prospect up to the Oilers and will likely be at next year's training camp to see how he's developed.

It's certainly important that teams hit those late round draft picks as it helps with organizational depth and potential pieces that could be added in the very near future.
