Edmonton Oilers make long awaited change to arena before playoff home opener

The Oilers are finally getting their playoff series back to Edmonton for a must-win Game 3, and fans will be happy to see a long awaited change in the arena.
Coach Knoblauch is also planning major changes for tonight's lineup on forward and defence, as well as Calvin Pickard taking the starter's crease.
Oilers plan major changes for their playoff arena by finally introducing rally towels
Outside of the change in the goalcrease, Oilers fans will get another much needed change. Rally towels will be given out in Rogers Place, instead of the usual pom-poms.
The rally towels are a classic element of all NHL playoffs, but it was something the Oilers hadn't adopted in recent years.
Edmonton had instead opted for stringy plastic pom-poms, which always felt like less quality than a classic towel. Even though they weren't the best, the pom poms were still part of playoff memories.

However, a majority of fans seem to be pumped about the change to towels.
At the same time, the Oilers raised their playoff ticket prices quite a bit once again. Even if ownership makes a positive change, they're still looking for a bigger cut.
Hopefully fans in attendance will be waving them hard and often for Oilers goals all night. And much more useful than the pom poms, every fan can keep those in a hockey bag as a skate towel forever.
Props to the Oilers for paying up for a small improvement to the playoff fan experience. Now, the team just needs to make sure the playoff run continues.
