Edmonton Oilers insider Mark Spector has revealed the exact injury that has plagued Connor McDavid since he sustained a lower body injury against the Winnipeg Jets on March 20th.

Spector explains that the injury is believed to be a growing or an abdominal issue which can be a very tricky injury to heal as all oiler fans know with the Evander Kane's ordeal last year.

Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch revealed to the media after practice today that the Oilers are going to take a cautious approach for Mcdavid's return along with other Oilers who have been injured including Mattias Ekholm.
Knoblauch did not reveal the exact injury that hurt Ekholm, but he did say that he have plenty of time to heal and will be ready for the playoffs.
Right now, this is about as bad as it gets: Your two superstars (are/were) out, possibly your best defenceman, (your starting goalie) and then numerous other guys. Ekholm, Oilers fans will be pleased to learn, has an injury that can be healed by playoff time, Knoblauch said.
The Oilers are also dealing with injuries to their starting goaltender Stuart Skinner who is suffering a concussion after being hit by Mikko Rantanen in Dallas and the continued recovery for Trent Frederic who is dealing with a high ankle sprain and was acquired from the Boston Bruins just prior to the NHL trade deadline.

Oilers likely out of the race for 1st in the Pacific Division

With eight games remaining in the regular season, the Oilers are currently sitting third in the Pacific division with 89 points, and it appears unlikely that they will be able to catch the Vegas golden Knights who are first and have 98 points.
The Golden Knights, who are winners of their last six games in a row will face off against the Oilers who are on the road and game time will start at 10:00 PM eastern on April 1st.
