The Edmonton Oilers were forced to turn to Stuart Skinner in Game 3 after Calvin Pickard suffered an injury, and Skinner is now confirmed to be starting Game 4 as well.
Oilers confirm Stuart Skinner will start Game 4 vs Vegas
According to Oilers reporters at practice today, Coach Knoblauch has confirmed that Skinner will start Game 4, and Pickard is still ruled out with injury.
Pickard's injury is reported to be minor, but at this point in the playoffs, no team injury information will be specific. The Oilers can only hope Pickard heals fast.
The Oilers coach only confirmed that Pickard will not be available for Game 4, but that means Skinner will be starting. If things get bad enough, Rodrigue will be their only backup.
Last night, Coach Knoblauch and the rest of the Oilers deflected blame off their goaltender as the reason for the loss. Edmonton's level of play definitely slipped in Game 3, but Skinner still allowed two weak goals.
With a playoff save percentage of .817 and multiple questionable goals against, it's ridiculous to keep pointing at the defence.
Stuart Skinner needs to improve play while fighting for his Oilers career
The Oilers need one extra save - that was something Calvin Pickard was able to handle especially late in games.
Skinner needs to get back to what made him have success in last year's playoff run. He may already be playing for his future on the Oilers right now, but also in the rest of the NHL.
Oilers fans will be stressing about Game 4 now, but there's still time to take a commanding series lead on home ice. The entire rest of the team will need to bring their best efforts.
