Speaking on TSN's SportsCentre, analyst Cameron Gaunce was very clear about Edmonton's need for a new goalie, if they hope to win a Stanley Cup this year.

Referring to Edmonton's 9-1 loss to Colorado, Cameron had this to say on TSN:
The 2nd goal, almost through Skinner, and it was like a collective shrug went through the team.

This is the same thing that's been happening over and over with Skinner. You saw it in the playoffs last year and you've seen it before that.

You think, maybe this is the time he'll get through it, but with a team like this, that has Cup-aspirations, they can't hope, they can't expect it to be different...they're bringing out the same actions and doing the same things...They need to make a move.

- Cameron Gaunce

Time running out for Edmonton between the pipes

It's certainly nothing new that's being said about Stuart Skinner, and the controversy will likely continue, until Oilers' GM Stan Bowman finally makes a moves in goal - the writing is on the wall.
Of course, as Gaunce said on SportsCentre, Skinner is quite capable of winning a few games in a row and having a good performance, which often quiets the noise around him for while.
But the Oilers don't need a goaltender that plays well on occasion; they can't win a Stanley Cup by winning the odd game. This team needs a bona fide number-1, period.
If Oilers want to win the Cup, a change in goal seems to be what has to happen, Cameron Gaunce repeated on the show, making no excuses, nor camouflaging the team's reality.
Oilers' fans have been saying this from the start of the season; before even, when their team lost to the Panthers in last year's Finals, and the one before that too.

Has time run out for the Oilers to acquire a proper starting goaltender? Is right now the time?
