Connor McDavid takes aim at himself after Oilers get shutout by Wild

In a game the Edmonton Oilers outplayed its opposition, Connor McDavid admitted post-game that he was partly to blame for his team's loss.
Too much time spent looking for the perfect pass
When things are going well for the Oilers, their dynamic offense is what often gets them goals. But when you're struggling to put the puck in the net, forcing the perfect pass can hurt the team.
Case in point, Edmonton generated only 7 high-danger chances 5v5 all night against the Wild, something the Oilers' Captain blamed himself for.
The Oilers dominated most of the game and in a fair world, should have won. Except, they faced a Wild team that is playing well and whose goalie was simply spectacular.
Jesper Wallstedt continued his dominating run to start his rookie season, recording the 4th shutout in 10 games this year, and his 5th shutout in the 15 NHL career games he's played.
Edmonton fired 32 shots at the rookie goalie and none found their way past him.
It is encouraging, however, to see Edmonton allow only one goal in its last two games, on the strength of good defense and goaltending.
Stuart Skinner saved 23 of 24 shots for a .958 save percentage last night against the Wild.
It may be difficult to see despite the loss, but the Oilers are beginning to turn their season around.
«The NHL is about winning games,» agreed head coach Kris Knoblauch. «But in the long picture, I prefer that we play the right way. Play the right way, and we're going to win more often than not."
I could not agree more.
