Former Oiler Cost The Oilers The Game!

The Edmonton Oilers are looking to get back into a playoff and all points are important right now. Especially when your'e up by two goals heading into the 3rd period, and look to have the game in hand.

Well, that was the situation last night between the Edmonton Oilers and Colorado Avalanche. The Oilers had a 2-0 lead and with just over 2 minutes left in the second period and a power play, Oilers Head Coach Jay Woodcraft would call a time-out looking for another goal heading into the 3rd.

Unfortunately for the Oilers that didn't happen. In the 3rd period Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon would get the Avalanche on the board, about mid 3rd period a former Oilers defenceman Brad Hunt would cost his former team the game by tying this one up 2-2 forcing overtime, while scoring his first of the year

The Avalanche would complete the comeback, when Avalanche star defenceman Cale Makar would score 2:30 into the 3 on 3 overtime to ruin the Oilers night.

Unfortunately that's hockey, a sway in momentum can either win you a game or in the Oilers case cost you the game for not finishing the Avalanche when they had them down.
