Tyson Barrie Speaks Out on Pride Night Situation

In 2023, teams have shied away from making Pride Nights mandatory and let players skip warmups for the occasion.

From the New York Rangers to the Philadelphia Flyers, teams have handled the PR disaster in multiple ways. With arguable superficial wording and no action, the jerseys are typically worn by players and the proceeds will go to a specific nonprofit.

But one former Edmonton Oilers defenseman has not been quiet about Pride Night.

Tyson Barrie has a special connection to the night, as he has friends and family members in the LGBTQ community and offers his support with words and action tonight.

Barrie is one of many in the league who genuinely makes an effort to make the NHL inclusive for everyone. Unlike many players who refuse to justify their choice to fans and media, Barrie has the fortitude to put his words and actions behind them.

The Nashville Predators are coming off a tough 4-point loss against the Dallas Stars and will be taking on the Vegas Golden Knights tonight, in addition to supporting the LGBTQ community.
