Hockey fans who attend an NHL playoff game look for two things, a hometown win and a great fan experience. When the puck dropped at Rogers Place for Game 1 last night, fans were showed great entertainment with the play on the ice and food being blasted out of T shirt cannons.

These are great ways to keep the fans engaged and give that lucky winner a free sandwich. Usually, it's t-shirts that blasted into the stands, but the Oilers chose to give instead a local favourite tasty treat.

The Oilers organization wanted to give their fans more to the fan experience as they decided to expand their outdoor venues around Rogers Place for fans as they added a second Hockey House to the Ice District as another way to involve thousands more fans to gather and watch the Oilers.

Fans far and wide have descended to Edmonton to enjoy the first two games and cheer on their team. Even some former players including former Oiler and fan favourite Klim Kostin attended last night's game as he had played for the team last season.

Ownership has made their statement that the fan experience is vital, as many across the league have setup new venues like outdoor viewing areas and outdoor food courts or even concerts to capture people's attention. Now it's a matter of the Oilers responding and continue to push the Kings to elimination.
