Connor McDavid shows extreme frustration on the bench during rare bad game
It's not often that any Oiler fan will readily admit this, because it simply never happens - but last night against the LA Kings, Connor McDavid had a rare bad game. Throughout the game last night, McDavid just struggled to get anything going, and ended the night with no points and a minus two. Near the end of the second period, McDavid was showing his frustration by snapping his stick on the bench.
Even through the admission of Oilers writer Mark Spector, McDavid just didn't have his top game last night. To their credit, the Kings played the tight checking game that usually leads to their success and were able to shut down McDavid through the game, which may team needs to do if they want to beat the Oilers. McDavid didn't speak to the media after the game.
The Kings ended up cruising to a 4-0 win, now with the new head coach bump of their own after firing Todd McLennan.
After sticking to the new look defence pairings from the game against the Ducks, perhaps Knoblauch goes back to the familiar pairings on the back end to stabilize the team next game. Specifically, Ceci and Bouchard struggled most, and could benefit from being reunited with their old partners.
