Seems no matter how poor the Oilers play at times, Connor McDavid continues to be a factor as he was last night versus the Toronto Maple Leafs. During that game, the Oilers lost 6-3 but McDavid had three assists on the game. This lead Sportsnet stats tweet out that McDavid is on pace for 105 assists this season.

The 27 year old is set to join three of the greats in the NHL who happened to be former Oilers superstar Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Bobby Orr. It appears that McDavid is choosing to pass more and be more of a playmaker this year as through 66 games, he has scored 26 goals with 91 assists for 117 points while being a + 29

This is well off the pace of his goal scoring as he had 64 goals through 82 games last year. It seems this generation of superstar will go through ebb and flow in their seasons where some are more in the goal scoring range and others are more assisting.

It will be absolutely incredible for Oilers fans and hockey fans to witness greatness from Connor McDavid this season. By the end of his career, he may truly be in the upper echelon of the best hockey players to ever play.
