Last night was an all-time Oilers fan moment when Connor Brown finally scored his first goal with the team, and his first goal in nearly two years. Coming off the ice, Brown was smiling and cracked a joke, saying «That's the heaviest monkey of all time. It's a full blown gorilla.»

When Brown scored last night to make the game 7-2, pretty much the entire building erupted in joy for him. The fans threw hats on the ice, and the bench was going crazy.

The 30 year old Brown signed with the Oilers this offseason after suffering a season ending injury last year with the Washington Capitals. After not scoring for 54 games this season, Brown finally got one - his first since the 2021-22 season with the Ottawa Senators.

Brown has been a consistent threat to score 20 goals a year prior to this injury and extended dry spell, and that was reflected in his $4M contract. Obviously it's disappointing that he hasn't lived up to expectations offensively this year, but all will be forgiven by Oilers fans if he continues to work hard and find a way to contribute in the playoffs.
