Oilers forward reveals how Leon Draisaitl coaches his linemates

With the demotion of Evander Kane and the very successful play of Nugent-Hopkins and Hyman with McDavid, that has left Leon Draisaitl with some new linemates this season. This season he has played with Ryan McLeod and Warren Foegele, two of Edmonton's depth players. Before this season neither player had experience playing in the top 6, so this is a huge promotion for both. This thrusts Leon into a leadership role for the players, as he has to make sure they know their place on the line and can make sure they feel comfortable. In a recent interview, Ryan McLeod reveals what Leon said to them in preparation for playing these big minutes:

Here it is very telling what Leon is telling them; just get open, and they'll have the best chance at success. When playing with such an amazingly skilled player like Leon, this is about the best advice you can give. Like McLeod says, he can hit you with the puck from anywhere on the ice, so just be ready for it. This shows the leadership role Leon is playing to these players, as he tries to help these players acclimate to such a fast paced style of play in the top 6.
