Oilers AHL team scratches their captain due to team violating league rule

With the Oilers having so much talent on the roster, a lot of their backup veterans end up getting buried in the minors. The Condors have a lot of veterans to help mentor the young guys on how to properly transition to professional hockey. It seemed like you could never have too many veterans, as it helps sell tickets for games. This is untrue however, as the AHL seemingly has a rule to prevent having too many veterans on one roster.

This is a rule that I had never heard of before today, as it's an incredibly rare occurrence for a team to have this many veterans on a team. The rule seems a bit nonsensical, but it makes sense when you realize that if they didn't have this rule in place, a team could easily just ice a team full of NHL caliber players and dominate in the league.

It's unfortunate for the team that this rule exists, as they will most likely rotate who sits every game. The team will be without their captain against the San Jose Barracuda, but hopefully can still come out victorious.
